Volkswagen Announces Its “Drive Bigger” Campaign
Volkswagen has long been known for thinking small, particularly with the introduction of the iconic Beetle in the mid-nineteenth century. But these days, the German automaker is going big. Earlier this year, VW announced its “Drive Bigger” campaign, a global initiative with the objective of neutralizing carbon emissions across its portfolio of vehicles.
How does VW plan on accomplishing such a tall task? By adding smarter automobiles into the fold. The following concept vehicles are just a few of the models Volkswagen has in the works:
To kickstart things, VW is making an $800 million investment to expand its assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Volkswagen is also sharing its electric vehicle (EV) platform with other companies in hopes that emissions-free cars will become more affordable to the average car buyer.
The ultimate goal is carbon neutrality by 2050.
How You Can Get Involved at Street Volkswagen
VW doesn’t plan on rolling out its new line until 2022, but luckily, the “Drive Bigger” campaign isn’t the only thing it’s doing to make the world a better place. This summer, Volkswagen is giving back to classrooms across the U.S. through its collaboration with DonorsChoose.org.
At Street Volkswagen, we’re proud to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
