6 Reasons to Buy Used VW Cars
People on a budget, or even those who have plenty to spend on their next car, may want to consider buying a used VW. You’ll get the same impressive vehicle, but at a much lower price, as well as some additional advantages.
With the number of used cars for sale in Amarillo, Texas, there is no reason to put off checking out what’s on offer. If you need some anyway, here are six benefits to buying a used VW.
The Advantages of Used Cars in Amarillo
Initial Savings
The most obvious reason for buying a used car rather than a new one is to save money. Even purchasing a Volkswagen from the previous model year can save you thousands of dollars. If you’re willing to look at an older model year, your initial cost will decrease even more. A lower upfront cost would also allow you to get more features than you could otherwise afford, as you would be paying the same price.
Reduced Insurance
In addition to costing less initially and making lower monthly payments, used cars from Volkswagen tend to have lower insurance rates. Since used vehicles are not valued as much as newer models, insurance companies cannot charge you as much. Therefore, you save even more money each month.
Less Depreciation
Most people buy a car to get from point A to B, not as an investment. However, you shouldn’t discount depreciation.
If you plan on selling your VW in the future, then a used model will have significantly less depreciation than a new one. In fact, since the largest chunk of depreciation occurs within the first year, buying used lets you take advantage of it, rather than losing money because of it.
Confirmed Reliability
With a used Volkswagen, research will confirm that the vehicle is as reliable as you hope. By choosing a VW model that came out a year or two prior, you will have numerous reviews to read, thereby confirming your decision.
Lower Environmental Impact
Do not forget that buying a used car also helps the environment. When you buy new, every single part has to be manufactured whereas with a used vehicle, you know that parts are being used to their fullest potential.
Extra Benefits of Certified Pre-Owned VWs
While any used cars from Volkswagen will provide you with the benefits discussed above, certified pre-owned models make even more sense. These models have undergone a 112-point inspection to ensure that everything functions as it is supposed to. You will also receive the associated Vehicle History Report that gives you further peace of mind.
Certified models also come with extra benefits, such as a 24,000-mile/2-year Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty and 24 Hour Roadside Assistance for two years.

How the Volkswagen Jetta Delivers Great Fuel Economy
For Amarillo drivers who are concerned about fuel efficiency, the Volkswagen Jetta is the perfect solution. This sedan gets great fuel economy while you drive around town in style. Thanks to its compact size and aerodynamic design, the Jetta saves you money on fuel no matter where you go or whether you choose to drive on the highway or make your way through city traffic.
Exploring the Efficiency of the Volkswagen Jetta
The Numbers
People interested in learning about the Volkswagen Jetta’s fuel economy will most likely want to take a look at the numbers. When looking at this model’s efficiency, you need to keep in mind that it will vary based on the transmission and engine that you choose.
With the base configuration of the 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual transmission, the Jetta gets an amazing 28 MPG in the city and 40 on the highway. Opting for the automatic only drops the highway fuel economy slightly to 38 MPG and keeps city mileage the same. Even the more powerful 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gets 35 MPG on the highway and the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine gets 33 MPG on the highway.
Looking at the Competition
If fuel economy is your priority, you should know the Jetta beats out other models in its class. The 2017 Toyota Corolla can only get up to 36 MPG on the highway while the 2017 Mazda3 only gets 37 MPG. Both of these fall behind the Jetta’s 40 MPG.
Beyond the numbers, Volkswagen has engineered the Jetta to be fun to drive. By comparison, the Corolla and the Mazda3 get the job done, but they don’t offer the kind of satisfying experience you expect behind the wheel of a German automobile.
Aerodynamic Styling
The secret to the Volkswagen Jetta’s great efficiency is a combination of the engine, transmission, and aerodynamic design. VW designers worked hard to create a seamless design that slips through an airstream while looking stylish.
Meanwhile, the engine delivers the handling and fun feel that you need without sacrificing fuel consumption. You can also maximize your gas mileage by following fuel-efficient driving techniques and avoiding excessive weight in your Jetta.
Experience the Jetta on a Test Drive
You can get a glimpse of the Volkswagen Jetta’s amazing fuel economy for yourself on a test drive. During your drive, you will also confirm that even though the Jetta boasts money-saving efficiency, it has excellent handling and without lacking power.
The team at Street Volkswagen can help you get behind the wheel as soon as you want to explore everything the Jetta has to offer.

At this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Volkswagen took the opportunity to show off their I.D. Buzz Concept along with some general information on the I.D. Series of electric vehicles. These cars are set to complement the current Volkswagen lineup and help the brand appeal to even more drivers.
Getting to Know the I.D. Buzz Concept
The I.D. Buzz Concept is a modern take on the original Volkswagen Bus that was such an iconic vehicle for travelers, families, and more. The VW Bus hasn’t been on sale in the United States in years, although you will still find plenty of used models in other countries. You won’t even find a current Volkswagen van in the U.S., but the I.D. Buzz Concept may be setting the stage for a comeback.
Quick Overview
The I.D. Buzz is an electric and autonomous microbus that brings back fond memories of the original VW bus that drivers and passengers alike loved. From the outside, it looks very reminiscent of this model but with plenty of modern touches. It has the new MEB platform that will also be found on other Volkswagen electric vehicles.
The I.D. Buzz is all-wheel drive and has 369-horsepower. It has the ability to go 270 miles on a charge, drive up to 99 MPH, and reach 60 MPH in just five seconds. There should also be a version with slightly less range, 268-horsepower, and rear-wheel drive.
Autonomous Technology
The big news for the I.D. Buzz Concept is that it has an autonomous feature. You can put it in I.D. Pilot mode, which will retract the steering wheel so that you can swivel your driver’s seat 180 degrees and face your traveling companions. This is the perfect example of what many drivers want from autonomous vehicles, as it focuses on enjoying your traveling experience.
Where to Find All Your Favorite VW Models
The I.D. series, including the I.D. Buzz, wasn’t the only group of Volkswagen models that made an appearance at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. That’s great news because the I.D. Buzz is unlikely to reach production without some changes and several years of work.
Volkswagen also showed off the VW Atlas, which will be available to drivers in Amarillo and around the country in the near future. At the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) event in Las Vegas, Volkswagen took the stage to show off their new infotainment system and plenty of other innovations. With all the new technology coming your way, there are more reasons than ever before to get excited about the future of Volkswagen.
VW Shows Off New Infotainment Features at CES 2017
User-ID Profile
The User-ID profile is part of the infotainment system that Volkswagen is working on, which is crucial for people who share a vehicle. This profile lets you set preferences for things like dash display configurations, ambient light settings, and more. Profiles can also recognize and save your favorite multimedia like music and podcasts.
Digital Key
Although the Digital Key technology was first introduced at the 2015 CES show, it has only been available on the e-Golf until now with limited functionality. If you have the e-Golf with this system, you can use your smartphone to open or close your car.
Thanks to the new User-ID profile, the Digital Key will go a step further. Now whenever you get inside, the vehicle will already know your preferred settings.
With the updated system, Volkswagen also lets you use your Digital Key to set restrictions. The time-based restrictions are great for anyone with teen drivers or you can get creative and unlock your trunk, allowing your preferred delivery service to place package inside. Of course, this can also do wonders for car-sharing services.
Alexa Voice Services Integration
People who love the Car-Net connected telematics services appreciated hearing about Alexa Voice Services integration. Now you will be able to rely on Alexa to access your apps and services that are accessible through Car-Net. Alexa can also control these functions outside of your car as well.
Updated HUD
The newest version of the Head-Up Display (HUD) system has two planes of display. A projection that seems as if it is a few feet in front of the Volkswagen will show immediate information such as navigation. Less important information will be displayed by the windshield’s base, such as your radio station.
Other VW Innovations at CES
In addition to the Volkswagen innovations related to the infotainment system, the automaker showed off other advances.
The evolved Digital Cockpit creates a 3D effect with its twin-stacked screens. This should make navigation easier by adding depth. The I.D. Concept car also made an appearance with its 168-horsepower electric motor and four-door hatch design. This vehicle is expected to arrive in 2020. By 2025, Volkswagen hopes to have an autonomous version available. It is the first model built with the new Modular Electric Drive platform.

If you live in Clovis, New Mexico, and have a Volkswagen, you don’t have to worry about finding somewhere you trust to take care of your VW’s regular service. Street Volkswagen can help.
Many people look at car maintenance as something they dread doing and will put it off too long. This will only lead to issues in the future. Why not make it a New Year’s resolution to take better care of your VW?
You can start that process off by keeping up with your regular maintenance schedule. As soon as you start taking care of your VW, you will begin to appreciate numerous benefits.
The Importance of Regular Volkswagen Service
Spot Issues Sooner
One of the best things about regular Volkswagen service is that you are more likely to notice a potential problem sooner. As with anything, issues related to your VW can get worse with time, making the necessary repairs more costly or even leading to you replacing parts.
Luckily, whenever you have maintenance done, a trained Volkswagen technician will be looking under your hood and at the key components. This is the perfect time to do an inspection and ensure everything is in working order.
Preserve Resale Value
Because everyone knows that regular maintenance is good for your car, it also preserves your resale value.
If you can show that you followed your VW’s service schedule, you can boost the value of your model significantly. Doing so gives the buyer confidence that your model was well cared for and that there is a much smaller risk of components breaking down. After all, any potential problems would’ve been caught during an inspection.
Keep Components Functional
To make it even better, VW service ensures that the various components in your car function as they should. Oil changes, for example, help your engine run smoothly. Every other service serves its own function.
The Experience Is Hassle-Free
Some people are hesitant to take their car in for maintenance because they are expecting it to take a long time or be annoying. You may even expect to be convinced to have services you don’t need or want as a way for the auto shop to make more money.
When you go to a reputable service center, this is never a concern. Instead, the staff will clear up any maintenance myths you have questions about and give you a hassle-free experience.
Street Volkswagen even offers Service Xpress for quick things like tire rotations, air filter replacements, and oil changes. With this service, you don’t need an appointment. You can show up whenever your schedule lets you, and you will be in and out of the service center quickly.
Where to Have Volkswagen Service Done
Now that you are convinced you should be keeping up with your Volkswagen service, you just need to make an appointment or contact Street VW to get started. Our team can help with all of the maintenance services you need.

The Volkswagen CC has been available since 2007, but the 2017 model year will be its last. VW has plans to replace this model with a new four-door coupe called the Arteon. Information is still being released about this newest Volkswagen, but there is plenty already available. Let’s talk about what we know now and what we can expect to learn in the near future.
A New Four-Door Coupe from Volkswagen
You can get the best information on the upcoming Arteon through the teaser film made by Volkswagen on YouTube. Based on this video, we know that the new Arteon has clear inspiration from the Sport Coupe GTE Concept you may recognize from last year’s Geneva Auto Show.
The design isn’t quite as futuristic, but you will still see the swoopy silhouette that resembles that of a fastback that enthusiasts loved at the auto show.
Compared to the CC
To help visualize the new VW Arteon, compare it to the existing Volkswagen CC.
The Arteon will be a bit longer and have a stretched version of the familiar modular MQB platform found on the CC and other VWs. Even though it’s replacing the CC, the Arteon will be a bit higher up on the market, meaning you can expect it to cost a bit more but have more technology and a more luxurious interior.
Other Important Details
This new VW will have a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It will have a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower on its top-of-the-line model at launch.
There is a good chance that an Arteon Hybrid will eventually arrive, but it won’t be available at launch. However, you will see plenty of updated tech with enhancements on some features familiar to drivers of the CC. Expect a gesture-controlled infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.
Where to Get Your VW CC
If you love the Volkswagen CC and can’t imagine driving any other model, then get a 2017 VW CC at Street VW. The friendly team at our Amarillo, Texas, dealership can also give you information on the upcoming Arteon and help you stay updated. Make sure you watch this space and follow us on social media for the latest news from Volkswagen.
